Breaking down Liverpool’s winger links by output, age profile and off-ball work
What the numbers say about Semenyo, Barcola and Adeyemi
When I sit down to analyse transfer targets, particularly in a January window, I always start with the same question. What problem are Liverpool trying to solve right now?
The answer this time is fairly clear. Liverpool are looking for speed from wide areas, and more specifically, players who can create threat either by carrying the ball into dangerous zones or by making decisive actions once they get there. The data on the players currently being linked backs that up, but let’s see to what degree.
Three wingers stand out in this window: Antoine Semenyo, Bradley Barcola, and Karim Adeyemi.
They are all quick. They all operate from wide areas. However, the way they generate threat and shots differs quite significantly.
