Camavinga to Liverpool analysed, defensive 100th percentiles and a £43m risk calculation
Forward passing at 84th percentile fills a key Liverpool gap
When I look at Eduardo Camavinga, it is crystal clear why Liverpool would be interested. The numbers point that way, the footage points that way, and the role fit points that way too. There is, though, one huge caveat, and it is impossible to ignore it. Before you even get into the finer detail of passing, carrying or defensive work, you have to deal with the injury record.
That is what makes him such an interesting case. On talent, there is a hell of a lot to like. On availability, there are real red flags. Any serious discussion about Camavinga to Liverpool has to hold both of those things at once.
Why Liverpool like Eduardo Camavinga
Watching him, you can see the appeal straight away. He makes third-man runs, he can carry the ball, he can pass it, he reads the game well, and he can dribble with both feet. He is very quick over a short distance, he does not shirk a challenge, and he can shoot from distance as well, I think he is a really good player.
The only thing I did not like about watching him was that quite a lot of the footage was against Liverpool, and he played well, which is slightly annoying, fundamentally, though, he is quality.
