Victor Munoz rescues Liverpool point against Nottingham Forest
Victor Munoz marked his full Liverpool debut with a vital late equaliser as Andoni Iraola’s side fought back twice to draw 2-2 with Nottingham Forest at Anfield.
Forest deservedly took the lead midway through the first half. A direct ball exposed Liverpool’s defensive line before Morgan Gibbs-White released Dan Ndoye, who finished calmly beyond Alisson.
Liverpool thought Florian Wirtz had responded 10 minutes later, but an offside in the build-up ruled out his effort. Alisson then prevented further damage by pushing Igor Jesus’ strike against the crossbar before half-time.
Liverpool respond through Isak
Nottingham Forest remained dangerous after the restart, particularly on the counter, but Liverpool found their equaliser on the hour.
Cody Gakpo escaped Neco Williams and delivered a precise low cross for Alexander Isak to tap into an empty net.
Anfield stirred and Liverpool increased the pressure, only for Forest to regain the lead 10 minutes later.
Liam Delap and Williams reacted quickly to a throw-in, catching Liverpool unprepared. Alisson raced from his goal and caught Williams, with referee Samuel Barrott awarding Forest a penalty.
Gibbs-White converted confidently to make it 2-1.
Munoz delivers at Anfield
Liverpool refused to accept defeat. With eight minutes remaining, Wirtz found Munoz and the Spanish winger hammered his finish against the crossbar and into the net.
Neither side could find a winner.
Iraola remains without a league victory as Liverpool head coach, with defensive vulnerabilities requiring attention. Munoz, however, provided encouragement with an emphatic first Liverpool goal when his team needed it most.
