Mohamed Salah and a club at a crossroads

I came home from Leeds last Saturday thinking about the game, and then the phone rang. When I saw who it was, one of the journalists I trust, I knew something was coming. He told me there was an embargo and that Mohamed Salah had spoken. I decided straight away that I needed to hear it properly before reacting. Even so, my first feeling was disappointment.

Not anger, not shock, disappointment.

I narrowed it down very quickly in my own head. This was not about whether Arne Slot should be Liverpool manager. It was not about whether Mo Salah should play or be dropped. It was about what Mo said, how he said it, and why he felt the need to say it at that particular moment.
