Liverpool Winger Rankings: Why Olise Leads, Diomande Surges and Barcola Sits Behind
Statistical output and attacking impact define Liverpool’s top winger targets
Liverpool’s need to reshape the forward line has been obvious for a while, and when you start mapping out potential winger targets, the conversation quickly becomes about profile, output, and tactical fit. From my perspective, when I look at the current options linked with the club, there are three names that clearly separate themselves from the rest.
Michael Olise sits at the top. Yan Diomande has moved into second place off the back of his progression this season. Bradley Barcola remains right there, but just behind. If Liverpool were to land any one of those three, I would be more than satisfied.
This ranking is not about hype or reputation. It is rooted in what the data shows, what the eye test confirms, and how each player fits into what Liverpool need next.
Ranking Logic and What Liverpool Actually Need
Before getting into the individual players, it is important to define what Liverpool require from a winger now. This is not simply about replacing one player with another. It is about understanding how the system might evolve.
There are two possible directions. If Liverpool continue with a 4-3-3, then a traditional wide forward is essential, someone who can provide pace, creativity and consistent output. If the system shifts, with a box structure and more central attacking players, then the role changes slightly. You still need pace, you still need someone who can stretch the pitch, but you also need intelligence in central areas.
