Liverpool’s Long-Term Plan Starts with Elite Young Centre-Backs
Why Liverpool are stockpiling top teenage talent from across the world
Liverpool are heading in a new direction. Under director of global talent Matt Newberry the club is ready to sign the best young talents in world football.
Newberry has been tasked with leading a number scouts in order to find the best prospects from around the globe.
His presence has been noted at numerous youth tournaments over the course of the last year.
Newberry’s influence has seen Liverpool sign Armin Pecsi from Puskas Akademia.
It also saw Sidy Barhama Ndiaye join the club’s U18 side on trial, scoring and assisting in two substitute appearances for the young Reds. He is now expected to join Liverpool when he turns 18-years-old in two years.
And this month we have seen Liverpool recruit Mor Talla Ndiaye, who immediately joins Rob Page’s U21 squad, and secure the future of Ifeanyi Ndukwe, who will join the U21 side in the summer after he turns 18-years-old.
This is a new and radical approach but it’s exciting. Perhaps, not for the now but for the future.
