With uncertainty around Mac Allister and Jones, Liverpool’s midfield rebuild could already be underway.

It’s looking increasingly likely that Liverpool are going to be in the market for a central midfielder this summer.

This should come as no surprise. There are murmurs of Alexis Mac Allister’s future being up in the air. Real Madrid certainly seems to be an interested party and with negotiations not advanced over a new contract with the Argentinian, it does feel like Liverpool themselves would be open to selling him.

If Arne Slot stays, it’s also difficult to see how Curtis Jones has any long-term future at Anfield. The scouse midfielder has fallen out of favour and came close to a departure in January.

If even just one of them leaves, there will be a need for Liverpool to bring in someone else.

Trey Nyoni is an exciting midfielder, but he cannot be trusted to step-up and replace the minutes of Jones or Mac Allister.

Liverpool need someone a lot more proven. But also probably a player who is on the more affordable end – rather than the likes of Adam Wharton or Elliot Anderson, who are both phenomenal players but would cost a fortune.

Why Lamine Camara Has Emerged as a Target

This is where the recent links to Lamine Camara become intriguing for Liverpool.

The Senegalese midfielder has long been on Liverpool’s radar. The club’s scouts kept an eye on him at the U20 AFCON, when he was just 18-years-old, and also followed his progress at Metz and Monaco.
