Even before Steven Gerrard had hung up his boots, there had persisted a phenomena at Anfield to label whoever exhibited even the tiniest amount of traits similar to Liverpool’s no.8 as his second coming.

Jay Spearing, Jordan Rossiter and countless others suffered from these unfair comparisons.

The truth is no one is likely ever going to live up to Gerrard’s name. He is one of the greatest Liverpool players who will likely ever play for the club.

But there is something really interesting happening at Liverpool’s academy right now.

There’s a player who at least might be able to live up to the comparisons, a player who has the closest resemblance to Gerrard yet.

It’s very rare that Liverpool hand debuts to 15-years-old at U18 level, it’s never happened that Liverpool give a debut to a 14-year-old.

But last season, Luca Eden became the first 14-year-old to make his debut for the Reds at that level.
