There really should no longer be about a debate whether or not Liverpool need an extra addition in midfield or not.

Their performance against Newcastle on Sunday made it abundantly clear that a reinforcement is needed in order to finally find an heir to Fabinho’s throne.

It’s been three years since the Brazilian left the club, and yet Liverpool have not been able to replace him.

They failed to sign Aurelien Tchouameni, Moises Caicedo and Martin Zubimendi before surrendering their pursuit and choosing to back Ryan Gravenberch in the position.

But it’s becoming very apparent that while Gravenberch could be a very good player, he’s not the midfielder Liverpool need to play the deeper midfield role.

There’s still time left in the transfer window for Richard Hughes to address the problem and this is why we’ve decided to take a look at three players who are available and who could come in to fix Liverpool’s issues.

Liverpool eye Senegalese star Lamine Camara - reports - Football | Tribuna.com

Lamine Camara

The first one should not really be a surprise. Camara is not a ‘pure CDM’ but neither was Fabinho while playing at AS Monaco before signing for the Reds. Nor do Liverpool need a pure no.6 in the double pivot deployed by Andoni Iraola.
