Wolves 2-1 Liverpool: Injury-Time Heartbreak as Wolves Sink Liverpool
Andre’s 94th-minute strike deflects off Joe Gomez to seal dramatic win as Liverpool suffer yet another stoppage-time setback.
Liverpool suffered another cruel late blow as bottom club Wolves snatched a dramatic 2–1 victory at Molineux with a 94th-minute winner.
Rodrigo Gomes had given the hosts the lead before Mohamed Salah looked to have salvaged a point for Arne Slot’s side with an equaliser in the second half. However, deep into stoppage time Andre struck from the edge of the area, his effort taking a deflection off Joe Gomez to beat the goalkeeper and spark wild celebrations among the home supporters.
It marks the fifth time this season Liverpool have conceded a decisive goal in injury time, a trend that continues to haunt their push for the Premier League’s top four. Victory would have moved the Reds level on points with Manchester United and Aston Villa, but instead they remain fifth in the table.
For Wolves, the result represents only their third league win of the season, though it follows another victory earlier in the week and shows signs of life from Rob Edwards’ struggling side. Despite the win over the defending champions, they remain bottom of the Premier League and still 11 points from safety.

Liverpool Head Coach Arne Slot gave his thoughts on Liverpool’s defeat by Wolves in the Premier League- Listen Now

Arne Sloth is honestly one of the most clueless managers I’ve seen at this level. He basically stumbled into a league title riding on Klopp’s squad, Klopp’s mentality, and the culture that was already built for him. The second he started fully embedding his style, everything began to unravel. March 2025 was the turning point. PSG, Newcastle, and the list just keeps going. The structure looked confused, the intensity dropped, and the identity disappeared.
He’s not a good manager, and he’s not a likeable personality either. I genuinely struggle to find people who actually rate him, and rightly so. There’s this air of delusion about him. Winning one league and suddenly comparing himself to Klopp is wild. It honestly reminds me of when Erik ten Hag claimed he was the most successful manager after Pep. The arrogance just does not match the reality.
Tactically rigid, slow to adapt, questionable substitutions, and zero charisma. When things go wrong, there is always an excuse. Referees, injuries, process talk, but never accountability. The standards Klopp set were elite. What we are watching now feels like a downgrade in ambition, mentality, and leadership.
Liverpool deserves better than this regression masked as evolution.
