Running the Numbers: Si Brundish Explains What FotMob Data Reveals About Liverpool’s Season

From Frimpong’s sprints to Wirtz’s accelerations, breaking down how Liverpool’s physical performance data explains Arne Slot’s evolving side.

Running the Numbers: Making Sense of Liverpool’s FotMob Data

You have probably seen them already, those neat little graphics on FotMob showing how far every player ran, how fast they sprinted, and how many times they accelerated. For a deeper discussion around this, I have done a Fatigue Index podcast with Dave Carolan, which you can find on the site.

For the first time, the average fan has access to a decent chunk of the physical performance data clubs use every week. It is not the full picture, you will not get the private club thresholds or GPS versus optical calibration headaches, but it is still a treasure trove for understanding what is happening on the pitch.

And for Liverpool fans, it is even more interesting, because the squad this season looks different to last year’s title-winning side. Not in style, but in the people doing the running.
